The standard intake into our Reception class is 20 pupils, as decided by the Derbyshire County Council who co-ordinates admissions to all Derbyshire Schools. Essentially the Authority acts as a ‘clearing house’ for all admissions and enables parents to express their preference. The Governors have adopted the Derbyshire County Council policy for Admissions and a copy is available in school.
Priority is determined as follows:-
- Children in care of the Local Authority
- Children living in the normal area served by the school, including those living in an area governed by a different Authority.
- Children who do not live in the normal area served by the school but who have brothers and/or sisters already attending the school at the time of admission.
- Other children whose parents have requested a place. This will be determined by the children who live nearest to school – measured by nearest available route – being given preference.
We are always pleased to show prospective parents around the school so do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a convenient time for a visit. All prospective parents are also invited to our Open Evening on Thursday 16th November 2017 (please contact the school for further information).
September 2018 Admissions
Applications for September 2018 can be made from 9am 13th November 2016 through the council admissions process (see the link below).
Applications must be made by 15 January 2017.
Parents will be offered one place in a Derbyshire School in April 2018.
See www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions for further details.
Admissions During The School Year
Applications should also be made through Derbyshire County Council where the same criteria will be used to prioritise the offer of a place. Again, parents and children are welcome to contact the school directly to arrange a visit at any time. Applications can be made by any parent but where there are limited spaces in a year group, priority will be given according to the DCC criteria outlined above.
